Early morning bird songs fill the air
Knelt down in the early morning dew
Face toward Mother Earth - I am free
A faint click of the inverter signals Father Sun is rounding the oaks
Jingle of tags on collars prove my companions-protectors are with me
Grandmother spider scurries in front of me, snatching bugs as I pull up their cover
Daddy bluebird watches over chattering little ones while mommy catches a bite
Peach, pear, cherry, and hazelnuts rustle in the light breeze while almond sways gently
Barn owls who their good night-end as they settle in -
Second totem, after Wolf, before Raven
Pain reminds me my daily path is not true
Tiny yellow flowers dance like faeries over the lady's mantle
A snap of peppermint floods childhood memories -
Incense and peppermints and strawberry alarm clocks
Pretty red roses remind me of a friend who saved me
Sun-soaked to the core of my soul - I am happy
Charentais flowers unfold their faces toward the sun
Mason bees buzz happily in the tomato forest
A tribe of chipmunks sounds the warning
As hawk settles majestically in the white pine
Cackling hens signal fresh eggs
An old squaw - some say medicine woman - creaks without groaning
Red beet soldiers line up for thinning - the selection process is brutal
Black swallowtail dances effortlessly-carelessly through the air
Strawberries half red, blueberries almost blue
Raspberries are plump with promise
Air heavy with the intoxicating smell of honeysuckle

Puppies for sale
Hard as it is - yes, we have to sell the puppies. Pick up day is going to be October 23, 2010. All pups will be bathed and have cool toys to bring to their new home. There are males and females - we are still considering keeping one pup and it's between Curly and Oskarette. In the photo above, Oskar is in back (dad) then left to right, Curly, Precious, Oskarette, Gizmo - in the front is Bear and Jet (mom).
Gizmo was first born - we call him this because he sounds just like the little furball in the movie when he gets wound up. He is very smart and going to be a protective companion. He is very much like his mom.
Bear was second born - he is big and furry, likely a longer haired GSD, and he has a very gentle, laid back demeanor, like his dad.
Curly was third born - he is the biggest, and definitely the alpha male. He was first to do almost everything, is very vocal, in charge, and will be a very protective dog. He is a very even combination of mom and dad.
Precious was fourth born - she is just that, precious. Very laid back and a lot like her daddy-gentle and wanting to play.
Oskarette was fifth born - she was named this because she is going to color up a lot like her dad. She is sweet - very quiet and loves to cuddle.
Okay - some pictures:
This is Curly with his mouth open, and Bear in front.

Precious and GizmoThe puppies are $400 each and will be vet checked and first shots. Contact us if you'd like to visit them. $200 will hold your pick and we'll begin calling the pup by your chosen name.

Puppies - A Love Story
The afternoon of August 26, 2010 was nervous - apprehensive. Jet never cried, never whined - she knows how loved she is and how much support she would have in this scary venture. She did not shun Oskar, nor either of us, not even the cat, Iggy. She welcomed all of our support in a coming event she knew was monumental, but did not really begin to understand.
About 8:30 that night, puppies were imminent - Jet decided to take refuge in her kennel, her cave, even though we'd dragged in the kiddie swimming pool we give the dogs to cool off in in the summer. We'd lined it with newspaper and old sheets and towels. Okay - how are we going to help the Jet, and the puppies if needed if she's in kennel? We decided we'd have to move the first puppy to the pool - yea, go ahead humans, make you're plans.
8:45 Oskar and Iggy are very worried about Jet who has begun pushing. Oskar gets a little too close and after a growl, we decided maybe he should go to his kennel. Jet screamed - absolutely wild! She wanted Oskar there - even if she didn't want him too close - she went running through the house to the other side where Oskar's kennel was and stood in front of him and they had a sweet conversation of sorts that seemed to make her feel better - then she jumped on the futon and had the first puppy, a boy, at 8:50
We let Oskar out. Don't let anyone tell you that a male dog is going to eat the puppies. The love of both of our dogs for these puppies was palatable - this was one of the most beautiful experiences Danny and I have ever had. This was a fantastically loving, exciting, nervous, beautiful night.

Puppy 4 - a girl - 1:17 a.m.
Puppy 5 - a girl - 1:45 a.m.
Jet has been an awesome mom - and Oskar has been a very loving dad. We've been on a quest since this night to win the lottery so we could keep them all. Of course we need to sell the puppies - but can we keep just one? Can we manage to give THREE German Shepherds the life we want them all to have? There are so many reasons why we're crazy to even consider it - but the thought of having to watch them all go is absolutely heartwrenching.
Okay - here are the current pics - three weeks old: running, playing, play-fighting - they are really a very fun handful :)

Peace and Love,
Dharma Dogs
